Get the Glow: Dewy makeup is back in style

According to Pinterest’s latest report dewy, fresh makeup is the in-thing this Autumn. While it may not be stereotypically autumnal, the radiant, glowy face card is all the rage: searches for ‘glowy dewy makeup’ has increased by 185%, and interest in ‘glossy lips makeup’ is up by 175%.

But why is it so popular? Well, dewy makeup actually has quite the history. In 1955, Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist famously used Vaseline as a primer and highlighter on her cheeks, browbone and eyelids, to give her a soft on-screen glow. In more recent years, the ‘Igari makeup’ trend took off. Of Japanese origin, this trend aims to achieve an all-over natural flush (just been on a hot-girl run look), and has re-gained popularity in the last few months.  Fast forward to 2024, and shimmery, radiant makeup is as trendy as can be. The likes of it-girl Sabrina Carpenter, who has just kicked off her ‘Short N Sweet’ tour, can be seen regularly rocking all the shimmer, looking effortlessly radiant night after night:

Black Cherry Brilliance 

There has been a 53% increase in the popularity of burgundy in the last week alone (Source: @databutmakeitfashion, based on online traffic and sentiment of online posts) and the deep red moment has hooked the hearts of nail-lovers everywhere with the latest nail trend: the Black Cherry look – a low commitment statement that is effortlessly chic and the ultimate autumn staple. The ultimate fashion fairy godmother Kate Moss was seen rocking the look in at Paris Fashion Week, stepping out in style with her mani-pedi matching moment.

BlackPink’s Lisa was also seen flaunting the trend in a more understated fashion- swapping regular French Tips for a subtle deep rouge look– proving that the Black Cherry moment can be for everyone.

The Butterfly Bob is Taking Off! 

Last but not least, for the all-important finishing touch of any beauty look: Hair!  

Vogue recently named the Butterfly Bob the latest Hair Trend that ‘Celebrities Love’ – and the proof is in the pudding. There has been a 94% increase in google searches for the specific cut, as well as nearly 2 million mentions on TikTok. The layered, bouncy texture of the bob is said to flatter all face shapes, and although this is a statement that is slightly hard to believe, the numerous celebrities who can be seen flaunting the look are even making us tempted to get the chop.
