Diversity Equity Inclusion Accessibility and Belonging Statement

As a business representing global multi-category brands, we’re in a privileged position to help make change. We’re committed to speaking up, and proactively influencing positive diversity and inclusion action within our business and the businesses we represent and offer consultation to.

In 2020, we launched B. The Agency Pro Bono Scheme offering 1 year’s Pro Bono communications strategy and support to 2 black founder businesses, the winner chosen by our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Board including Sophie Blowfield, Dee Omole, Ateh Jewel, Simone Powderly, Liana Fricker, Lollie King and Chloe Watts. Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Board also offers counsel to our agency, workforce, and clients to provide education and actionable diversity and representation improvement and inclusion measures.

To help us achieve our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion plan we are supporting the work of The Taylor Bennett Foundation, a charity that exists to encourage Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic group graduates, to pursue a career in communications. We have been taking part in the charity’s award-winning training programme since 2020 to promote career and role opportunity awareness in fashion, beauty and lifestyle PR. In addition, we support The Diana Award with Pro Bono PR services. A charity dedicated to empowering young people to create change & opportunities in the world.

2022 we launched Black Creative Futures Programme, a paid initiative, open to any black person looking to enter and pursue a career in communications. The 12-month training scheme offers a 360 experience, culminating in an interview to progress to the next level within our agency. Application is open to all school leavers, no degree or higher education is required. The applications are judged based on the strength of an individual’s natural communications skills, creative writing, tenacity, and desire to pursue a career in the communications industry.

At B. we are working together to create an environment of inclusivity and equity, where all individuals thrive and reach their full potential in a place they feel safe and comfortable to be their true selves. We are up-skilling and scaffolding our teams to be active in building an inclusive culture and sense of belonging across the business. We are committed to seeking a diverse pool of candidates for vacant positions with the goal of increasing diverse representation across all levels of B. The Communications Agency.

We recognise that to attract and retain a diverse team, we need to remove all barriers. We’re committed to intelligent, accessible, flexible, and family-friendly working policies that meet the needs of our workforce. At b. we want everyone, without exception, to feel able to bring their authentic self to work.

We celebrate our differences and encourage people to speak up and challenge anything that goes against our sense of community. We will always listen, respond, and act upon any issues raised by our people, we know this is critical to achieving an open and inclusive culture.

Staff members are offered volunteer days – paid time to volunteer for relevant community organisations.

B. The Communications Agency is a female-founded, female-led business. We guarantee fair pay for all, there has never been and never will be a gender pay gap within our business.

We are regularly reviewing our recruitment process and inclusion policies.
