What does Pride mean to you?
“To recognise that we’re in the month of Pride – that itself is incredible!
When I moved to London 29 years ago, Pride was one calendar day a year and was quite segregated. It’s amazing to be in a community that has grown in strength, both in its voice and in the amount of people – it’s incredible!
ARKIVE is an LGBTQIA+ founded business, and for us, celebrating inclusivity every single day of the year is key. It’s why we set up a universal brand that is for every single head.”
What advice would you give to anyone coming out?
“I came out in the 80s so it was a very different time. Unfortunately coming out is still a process that some people have to go through. My advice is to seek support from your friends and use social media to find people who have shared their story with the world.
Find someone who you can confide in; your best friend, your parents or even your grandparents. When I came out, I didn’t feel that people would understand, but the support was incredible.
Believing your story is as important as any other persons’ is key. Rely on that support and don’t be scared to share your story and be your own authentic self. Stay strong and remember it won’t always be easy, but this too shall pass.”
