EXCLUSIVE: First look at Lydia Bright’s vintage-inspired Christmas clothing collection as the TOWIE star turns designer

She is known for breaking typical Essex girl fashion rules, shunning fake tan and body-con dresses for a more natural look.
And now The Only Way is Essex star Lydia Bright is channelling her love of retro fashion into her first womenswear collection.
Taking inspiration from vintage style she already wears so well, the reality TV star has designed the eponymous 10 piece collection with a nod to her love of timeless, feminine designs with a subtle contemporary twist – and she could not be prouder of the range.
Lydia Bright from the hit ITV show The Only Way Is Essex has ventured into the world of fashion with her Christmas capsule collection
‘I’ve always been into fashion from a young age. Growing up I was a huge Sex And The City fan and as I grew up I developed my own style and got an amazing platform on The Only Way Is Essex so it came naturally that I would go into designing,’ she said in an exclusive interview with MailOnline.
Lydia was born in to a fashion-mad family – her mother Deb was fashion buyer and her aunt was a designer – so it came as no surprise to the Bright clan when Lydia ventured into the world of fashion.
She said: ‘My mum has always been very eccentric with her fashion sense and growing up she was changing her style all the time.
‘She was always one to try new things and never be afraid. I remember she once picked me up from school wearing a harem and said it was a new look she was trying out; that’s just my mum.’
Lydia researched her collection by taking in two fashion weeks, creating mood boards and investing in plenty of vintage shopping.
‘I absolutely loved researching and designing the collection. It’s something I want to carry on now for the rest of my life. I am so passionate about this,’ she said.
Counting her style icons as Marilyn Monroe, Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo, 21-year-old Lydia has drawn inspiration from a host of eras but the 1950s holds a place in her heart.
‘I just love the 50s and I am following what I know is going to be big but keeping my stamp on it with the lace crochet and chiffon.

‘I love Dior and Chanel so I will keep my line classic and very floaty and feminine.’ she said.
Although Lydia is often credited as the best dressed star of TOWIE, she would love to raid castmate Cara Kilbey’s wardrobe.
She said: ‘I love some of Cara’s pieces. She is very into designer stuff and has a very expensive wardrobe of top-end beautiful pieces.’
She is often branded the ‘fashionista of TOWIE’ so has channeled her love of couture into her latest range
And as for boyfriend Tom Kilbey, she describes his style as ‘East London shabby’ and maintains that all of the Essex boys dress well and to their personalities, even her ex-boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent.
She added: ‘Tom is really proud of me and he has seen how much hard work I’ve put into this so it’s amazing for him to see the final collection.’
Alongside her fashion line and filming duties, Lydia runs her own boutique in her home town of Essex called Bella Sorella.

The love birds have both developed their own sense of style and Lydia describes her boyfriend’s as ‘East London shabby’
‘Most of what I wear is from my boutique. It is doing so well, especially in Australia now the show is being aired there. Even Kimberley Walsh popped in,’ she said.
Lydia is wasting no time in her new found designing role and has already set her sights on a 25-piece spring/summer 13 collection of separates.
‘It will; be a privilege for me to see people to wearing my clothes. It will be crazy walking down the street and seeing people wearing the dresses I have designed.
‘I feel this is where my heart is now and I love it.’
